The iOS 6 iPad Clock

With iOS 6 Apple has added an official clock app to the iPad. The iPad has always lacked some of the "widget" apps of the iPhone — think calculator, stocks, and weather — but with iOS 6, it no longer lacks a clock.

What's really cool about the iPad clock though is just how optimized it is for the larger display. You can see multiple clocks from around the world at once on top of a map of the world with local weather for each of your chosen locations as well. You can also tap on any individual clock to launch a beautiful full-screen mode perfect for using as a desk clock. In fact, the whole app would made an awesome modern version of the world clocks from offices of old. It's as if Apple has designed this new clock app just for the many people who like to keep their iPad on and running in the upright Smart Case position to use as a "station" for various things. And that's a very good thing.

It was always somewhat curious why the iPad was missing a clock app from Apple. Turns out that they just never got around to it, I suppose. Now onto the calculator, stocks, and weather apps.
