Suits (on USA) is a great summer show. The plot, dialogue, actors, and of course, suits and clothing, are all fantastic. Everything about the show is pretty much perfect.
Just last Thursday the show entered its second season. Here are my thoughts on the premiere (spoilers ahead):
- I like that the show did not cop-out with Mike and his issue of not really having gone to Harvard. His friend ratted him out, and there were serious repercussions in this episode. At the end of the last season, you do not actualy hear Trevor, Mike's friend, tell Jessica anything. But you can tell that he is about to tell her that Mike never went to Harvard. The show could have come back this season explaining that, in the end, Trevor said nothing. But they did not. They stuck it out. And not only did they do the problems that this caused well, but they also solved it very well, too. All around, they did an excellent job.
- The whole "old boss comes back" is a slight cliché in TV shows, but Suits has its own spin on it and I can't wait to see how it will play out with Suits' characters.
- I'm curious if Mike is really done with Trevor, or if, like last season, they'll make up. It seems he was really done with him this time, though.
- A friend of mine always seems to say that Jessica does not seem smart or powerful enough to be heading the firm. I don't think anyone can deny that the last scene of the premiere at least somewhat changed this vision of her. For the better.
Overall, it was an excellent start to what is sure to be an excellent season. There are 16 episodes this time — 4 more than last years. And I can't wait. Suits gets my fullest endorsement.
