Geek Debate: The Apple Celebrity TV Ads
/The case FOR the celebrity iPhone ads: The ads are pretty good. Especially the latest one with Martin Scorsese. They get a good chuckle out of viewers and you get to see a real person interacting with the iPhone — not something Apple usually shows in its commercials. Plus, it's not just anybody using the iPhone and Siri. It's a celebrity, which makes the ads even more appealing.
The case AGAINST the celebrity iPhone ads: Let's be honest here, the ads are pretty bad. Especially for Apple, the producer of truly quality advertisements (usually). They're cheesy, bad for the celebrities who often come off as hermits who live alone with nothing better to do than to talk to Siri (except for the latest one with Scorsese, of course), and bad for Apple as the ads cheapen the iPhone. And come on, Siri doesn't work even remotely as well as it seems to in the ads. It's practically false advertising. Sure, the ads are cute. But these ads shouldn't be cute.
What do you think? Do you like the ads? Or do you think that they're amongst the poorer side of Apple's ad spectrum? Leave it all below.
As for me, I'm kind of split. Part of me agrees with the "FOR" and part of me agrees with the "AGAINST".
