Buying Osfoora with Tweetbot Around the Corner?
/
I'm a bit fed up with the current Twitter client for Mac — the official one, anyway. It hasn't been updated in ages, it's way behind on features, but most importantly, it isn't Tweetbot.
From what I've heard, the best alternative Twitter client for the Mac is Osfoora. It's nice looking, feature full, and up-to-date. It costs $4.99.
And it isn't Tweetbot.
I want a better Twitter client on my Mac, but with Tweetbot for Mac's imminent release, I question if it's worth spending the money on an app that I know I will ditch the second Tweetbot is available. I think I'm just going to have to wait this one out.
But how soon is Tweetbot really going to be released? Who knows. May be a few weeks. Maybe a few months. We know they're working on it, but there was no real release timeframe. Patience, young grasshopper, I suppose.
There are really two huge reasons I'm pining for Tweetbot on my Mac:
- Timeline sync (over iCloud): I have a macro now that scrolls my timeline to the top when I get home, but that's hardly a passable hack. I'm desperate for timeline sync.
- Mute filter sync (presumably also over iCloud): Tweetbot has really flexible muting options, but I've never used them, despite really wanting to at some points, because I know that anything I mute won't also be muted on my Mac when I get back home. So what then, really, is the point? When I can use Tweetbot on my Mac, and have my mute filters synced to it, I'll use it all the time.
And of course there are all the plethora of other awesome Tweetbot features: inline picture and videos, read-it-later service support, reply view, etc. And I'm sure that there will be some features that are new just for the Mac as well.
All in all, I can't wait for Tweetbot to be released for the Mac so that my Twitter experience can finally be completely seamless across all my devices.
